The day after our anniversary is Johnny's birthday...which always makes for a few days of fun! :) Danny and I headed home after our magical night in Salt Lake to be with our birthday boy. I can hardly believe the little stinker is three! Johnny was very excited that his birthday had finally come. It fell on a Sunday this year, so we enjoyed church and then came home to celebrate.
Everybody came to our house for Johnny's party...but did I get pictures of everyone? No! I've got to be better about that. But even though I didn't get pictures of Grandma and Papa Call, or Uncle David and Aunt Millie, or Uncle Matt and Aunt Jenny...they were there. :) Grandma Candy was sure to be there, and even Grandpa Richard and Grandma Ruth Ann came.
I'm sure Johnny appreciated the fact that everyone came...but he's three. He was mostly interested in his presents. And he had a lot to be interested in! Our kids are so loved.
Johnny's sisters and little brother found the coolest giant "Transformers" action figures! They got Johnny his two favorite guys: Optimus Prime and Bumblebee.
Mom and Dad got Johnny his favorite book. He originally checked it out from the library, and when we read it to him it described our little dinosaur perfectly! We just had to have it in our personal library.
Isabelle, Eli, and Ava got Johnny a new Spiderman punching bag...complete with oversized punching gloves. Ruby photobombed the photo... :)
And from Ruby and Lucy, Johnny got a new set of bedtime stories!
Grandma Candy got Johnny a whole box full of cool shirts and sweaters. Spiderman, Wolverine, Superman, Star Wars...everything a little boy could ever want to wear! But best of all had to be the Mickey Mouse bomber jacket. Seriously. Every time I think the boy can't get cuter, Grandma Candy makes him look like a little pilot!
And as if that wasn't enough, Daddy got John his very own BYU helmet and jersey! Johnny was ready for the season to start now. He ran around wearing this helmet and singing the fight song...and making Danny's dreams of fatherhood come true. :)
Being a BYU fan isn't lost on our girls! They were pretty jealous they didn't get a helmet, too...
And because we are equal opportunity indoctinators, we got Johnny his first basketball hoop, too! He was pretty excited!
Johnny got a card from Great Grandma Call, and fun presents from Grandma and Papa...not the least of which was a Sock Monkey beanie with the BYU "Y" on the back. Johnny loved all his presents, and was so excited to start playing! We were able to convince him to wait just a few more minutes so we could blow out candles. He was okay with that. :)
Johnny picked out a "Transformers" cake this year. He had also picked out a giant "3" candle, but leave it to me to break the dumb thing in half while trying to get it out of the packaging! Good thing I had a stash of sparkler candles. I think Johnny liked those even better. He made his wish, and after only a couple attempts and a profuse amount of spittle, he blew out his candles!
With presents and cake behind us, it was time to party. Luke wanted so badly to follow the kids outside to play, so Grandma took him out. He loved the tricycle, and stayed on it for quite a while. Until he discovered the slide...which was the coolest thing Luke had ever known!
Johnny wasted no time at all getting his punching gloves on, and beating the daylights out of his punching bag. As long as he focuses on the blowup bag and not his sisters, I'm good. :)
Oh, Johnny. What a delight you are! You're the most handsome, charming, fun three year-old boy I've ever known. You're a handful to be sure, but I'm happy to handle you! Happy Birthday, John Boy! We love you!
