BYU vs Idaho State

The last home game.  How sad!  This football season was so much fun!  But as sad as it was that it was over, we were going out with a bang.  We were able to swing it and take the whole family (sans Luke) to the game!  Unfortunately, it was at the cost of Papa and Aunt Katie being sick.  But hey, we couldn't let the tickets go to waste! :)  The weather was sure to be cold and a little wet, so we had the kids pack their snow clothes, we dropped Luke off to spend the day with Grandma, and we were off!  BYU vs Idaho State!  We had this game in the bag...

I love the marching band.  I was a band geek...and once a band geek, always a band geek!  Even though we're there for the football, I try to culture our children in my interests as well.  So we stopped and enjoyed the drum line. :)

Then Danny took Johnny to the Cougar Den to buy something.  Danny wasn't able to take Johnny during the Texas game due to the freak storm, and the girls ended up with Hello Kitty dolls from their games.  So Johnny went and picked a new friend.  We named him Belt, after "The Croods"...and Johnny has slept with this new friend every night since the game.  He also held him around his neck for the entire game!  Johnny has very strong nurturing side. :)

After Danny and Johnny were done in the Cougar Den, it was time to buy waters, and Cougar Tails, and the whole nine yards.  And there was time for a photo op or two.  I just can't get enough of these adorable Cougar fans!

So far, it was cold and a little rainy.  But as the game started, the weather worsened.  It was so cold, and worse...it was slushing!  Not raining, not snowing...but absolutely, drenchingly slushing.  We had wonderful ponchos, but it was hard to keep the kids dry...

Johnny didn't make it 20 minutes into the game before he just couldn't take the wet any more.  And since he's my boy, I spent the rest of the first half under the portals so that we could stay dry.

I did finally find a nice chair with a view of the game. :)

Johnny mostly just hung out and looked cool.  Seriously, they don't get cuter than this!

At halftime, the crowd really started to thin.  I'd estimate that 2/3rds of the stadium went home.  So my opportunistic husband moved us to some better seats.  Ten rows up on the 50 yard line, baby!  The game, while still cold and a little wet, just got a lot more fun!  Someday, those will be our season tickets.  In the meantime, we soaked up every minute of these dream seats!  We even caught the last bit of the halftime show...

By the second half, the Cougars truly had the game in the bag, so we were able to just enjoy being there without the stress of a close game.  These pictures is what BYU Football is for our family.  It's something we enjoy together.  It's a passion of Danny's that we can share with him, and know him and love him more for it.  For us, BYU Football is family.

And with that, the 2013 home season was over...

...but we'll be back next year.  Because we're loyal.  We're strong.  We're true Cougar fans!
