May iMoments

Aunt Jenny had a work trip during the first week in May, so Ava spent the days with us while Matt was at work and Isabelle and Eli were in school. It was so fun to have her all to ourselves!

Claire got her first note from a boy!! It was entirely too adorable not to document in our family history. But I think the part I love best is that this boy is enamored with Claire because of how nice she is. Our golden-hearted girl...

Miss Ava LOVES to bake, and that was her one request during her time with us. So John invited his new friend Jason (who just moved in a couple houses down), and we made giant chocolate M&M cookies...and they were every bit as good as they look!

We had a big yard work day to get the yard looking halfway decent for summer. We all took turns trying to keep Joseph alive while we worked. Johnny's solution was to keep him occupied in a pile of bush trimmings...

I stuck him in his high chair with his snacks...

And Claire played trucks!! At the end of the day, the yard looked great and Joseph was still alive! Success!

Joseph has become quite the drama king. After throwing himself on the floor in disgust, crying and rolling around in frustration, he finally ended up tangled up with Maese...and somehow that made it all better.

Johnny had First Grade Bootcamp this month...a whole day at school in preparation for first grade next year. He even got to eat school lunch! He's totally ready for first grade...

This kid. He can destroy the entire house in a half hour, I swear. This room was just picked up, and I turned around for two minutes and then found this! Good thing he so stinkin' cute!

We celebrated Mother's Day with Grandma Candy and Aunt Jenny's family at the zipline park in Layton. We had yummy sandwiches, crab salad, fruit, and cookies. We laughed and played and even had a couple rousing games of Kubb. It was a great day!!

We did it!! Twenty weeks of family home evening!! We celebrated with dinner at Red Robin, and set a goal to keep going to the end of the year. I think out next dinner will be at Tepanyaki!

Joey ended up with his first bubble bath a little inadvertently. Sophie had taken a shower before him and had used a generous amount of body wash! Joey was pleasantly surprised!

Claire had her fourth grade rendezvous, and she (well, mostly me) made these cool beaded bracelets for her to barter with. She was one happy little Indian girl!

You guys. Seriously. This kid is going to be the death of me! But better me than him. Let's just hope the gate holds...

Maese and Joey have a really good dinner system. Joey eats everything he wants off his tray, and then throws the rest at Maese for him to finish. Once we have him cleaned up and out of his tray, they both go back to see what they can scrounge from the seat. :)

Best buds.

Because of our trip, Johnny won't actually be here for kindergarten graduation. He's pretty bummed about it, actually, but he's being a good sport. Mrs. Fleming was sweet enough to give him his diploma and hat early. Finally, kindergarten is behind this boy!!

So this might seem like an ordinary, every day picture of Poseph eating dinner. But if you look closely, you'll see he stored his food out on his tray. I put everything in one big pile in the middle, because that's how it usually ends up. But our brilliant little boy sorted the whole mess out!

Johnny has been wanting more of a hair style, which I am totally inept at giving him. But a trip to Great Clips had my boy looking pretty sharp! He's so grown up...

And speaking of grown up! This boy took his first real steps!! We were shopping for shoes for me at Shoe Carnival, and he just started walking! He took about 6-7 steps, and then would get down and start crawling. But he did if a few times, and felt pretty darned impressed with himself. I'm sure the kids and I were quite the spectacle making such a fuss over our Poseph. Our baby no more...

Because of kindergarten testing, Johnny's last day of kindergarten was a few days before we left town. But when we were at the school for Claire's program, we took Mrs. Fleming a little thank you present so Johnny could give her a hug and say goodbye. Mrs. Fleming is an extraordinary teacher, and has loved, taught, and cared for two of my kids now. I count her among my friends, and we hope she's still around when Joey is in need of a kinder teacher!
