It become something of a tradition to combine Aunt Rachel's birthday and the Vigil Family Christmas get-together, and it works rather well! This year we simplified, and instead of doing Rachel's favorite (but labor-intensive) dinner of beans and chile, fried chicken, and tortillas we opted for tacos, rice, fruit and donuts for dessert. And it was awesome!
After dinner, Grandma Candy had all the kids open their presents from her. She restocked her game closet and also gave each grandkid an individual gift...digital piggy banks for the older kids and Joey got a stuffed elephant from Kneader's childhood cancer awareness campaign. And our family got our gift from Grandma Candy since she had our name this year...giant Jenga!
We had a great evening together, remembering Rachel and celebrating the season together. Happy Birthday, Rachel Babes! We miss you!
