Halloween!

We started off Halloween on Saturday night...with donuts. We have been wanting to try donuts for a long time, and this seemed like a good occasion to justify the effort and calories. :) We decided to give old-fashioned chocolate sour cream donuts a try. They were good! We have some practice to acquire, but our first foray into the world of donuts was definitely encouraging. And delicious!

Halloween was on a Monday this year, and the kids didn't have school all day. That never seemed like an awesome idea to me...I think they should have had the day AFTER Halloween off! :) It did give us plenty of time to get our pumpkins carved and our costumes on, though, so that was nice. While I fed Joseph and got him ready to go, Danny took the kids over to see Great Grandma Call. She loves to see the kids in their costumes, and she always has a piece of candy for them. It's the perfect way to start trick or treats.

Then it was finally time to hit the streets! The kids looked awesome, and it made me so happy to see them all dressed up on the porch. Just missing my Luke. :) Maese even got to come! Joey enjoyed the festivities from his stroller, all cuddled in a blanket. The weather was actually beautiful for the end of October. I love it when we can trick or treat in comfort.

We met up with Claire's best friend Grace a block away from the house. Grace is the youngest in her family, so it's way more fun for her to come with us. We love having her!

And a block after we met Grace we met up with Johnny's best friend (and Grace's cousin) Livi. We had the crew together!! It was all about candy after that...and of course hot chocolate and scones! I love our neighborhood.

We finally called it quits when the kids couldn't stuff any more candy in their buckets! It was a great night, full of friends and candy and chit chat amongst the adults. Joey did awesome, and just took it all in until he fell comfortably asleep. And we were greeted by our happy and well-carved jack o'lanterns glowing on our porch when we got home.

And that was it for Halloween this year! It was our last "first" Halloween, and Danny had a hard time taking Joey out of his adorable Tigger costume. Danny has loved every one of our littles wearing this costume. It's so crazy to leave this whole era of our life behind us! But with how stinking adorable Joey is, at least we are ending on a high note. ;)

Happy Halloween!
