Happy Birthday, Lukey!!
We made a decision this year. Luke's birthday is a family holiday, and that means no work or school! This year, Claire's 4th grade rendezvous was on Luke's birthday, so she chose to go to school. But Sophie and Johnny stayed home, and Danny as well. Danny and I thought it would be nice to start out Luke's birthday with a trip to the temple to do sealings, and it was a wonderful experience. It felt like we were able to give Luke a gift on his birthday by helping other families be sealed together forever. We just might have to make that a Lukey Day tradition. :)
After school, we were headed to the park for a smoke-out with Danny's work. Danny smoked some deliciously amazing chicken, and I made Lukey a birthday cake that we could take to share. A chocolate malt cake...complete with smiley face! It was delicious.
After the smoke-out, we rushed over to the church for Activity Days Recognition Night. So far, it had been a very busy day!! But we couldn't end Luke's birthday without spending some time at the cemetery. We really don't go that often anymore, but we still need to feel the special spirit there from time to time. Especially on these important Luke days. And every birthday boy needs balloons. :)
We can't believe our boy would be five years old! We miss him like crazy. But more than missing him (most of the time) we are just so darned proud of him! We love you, Lukey! Happy Birthday!!
