Christmas Lights and #LightTheWorld

December 1st is Aunt Rachel's anniversary...and as one would expect it's always a hard day for Grandma Candy. For the first part of December, the weather was actually really nice, so Danny and I decided it would be the perfect night for an outing to Temple Square. Grandma Candy thought so, too! We invited the Martin family along, and before we knew it we had a Vigil Family Night on our hands!

With it being the first day of December, it was also the first day of the #LightTheWorld campaign that the Church does for the holiday season. So Jenny and I combined our resources and got what we needed for three gift bags for the homeless that are usually panhandling on Temple Square during Christmas. The kids were so excited to put them together, and once they were done we made our way to Temple Square.

The thing was, Salt Lake City had recently done some city projects and there were virtually no homeless people around Temple Square! We walked the whole perimeter, probably twice, and hit every exit...also probably twice, and were only able to give away two of our bags! Not exactly the experience we were expecting, but it as awesome nonetheless. Plus, it was a beautiful night and the lights were amazing as always. Joey was particularly enthralled. :)

After we had seen the lights and had our fill of the cold outdoors, Grandma Candy bought everyone hot chocolate and a cookie at the Lion House. It was a wonderful night, a perfect way to remember our sweet Rachel, and a great way to kick off the Christmas season!
